If Not You, Someone Else
Brand yourself before someone else does it for you….
Being a HR practitioner, you may come across different people. But, you have to be careful about self before communicating with them.
At the same time, you need to put some conscious efforts for not judging others by their first appearance or first conversations.
What do you say?
Mostly we don’t say anything. People who look at the profile or DP judge us from their own perspective. It’s their assumption. But, it completely depends upon what you show. How you exhibit / express yourselves.
‘She must be rude.’
‘He might be young and energetic.’
‘She might be an active consultant.’
‘She seems arrogant.’
‘He might be into marketing.’
‘This company is into software programming.’
But, before coming to a conclusion, before their(listeners/readers) brain passes a judgement, look from the other’s perspective. How are you occuring to them?
Check whether you are being expressed in the exact way you wish to or not.
If its not so, it’s the right time for you to do some homework on your profile.
Name, profession, skills possessed, projects handled, achievements/awards received, your expertise, interests etc…
Everything should be looked upon carefully and need to make the necessary changes.
Profile should be updated frequently with every new skill acquired or any other prominent change that occured recently.
When it comes to an impressive personality, everything matters.
Your smile, attitude, response towards others, behaviour when in a team, dress, everything should be carefully presented.
Remember, you have to create your own brand. If others do it for you, it would definitely be different from what you thought.
