Recruitment is the process of procuring talent to fill vacant positions in the organization, whereas Talent Acquisition is a process which has bigger and wider scope when compared with Recruitments & Hiring.
It’s a continuous process of Talent identification, Talent attraction, Talent assessment and Talent recruitment whether positions are open or not. Recruitment is one of major activities done by HR Personnel which makes a great impact on the success of an organization. Recruitments can be done in different ways, majorly it can be classified into 2 types i.e., internal recruitment and external recruitment
1. Internal Recruitments
When the position is open, based on the size of organization, competencies available in the organization and the current job roles HR can pick the currently working associate from the organization and process for the recruitment
Internal Recruitments can further be done in 2 ways
a. Hiring from internal departments:
However, there are certain constraints that are to be taken care of when we are hiring from internal departments:
1) Candidate should be willing to move to the new position.
2) The manager of the employee should approve for the process as there could be need of that particular employee’s contribution
3) Management also should agree and approve for the process as we should also consider the impact of moving the employee away from the current role
4) Also the internal employee should be able to clear all the rounds in selection process.
This can be best explained with the following example. If there is an open position in one department X and say in department Y an employee has good skills which are suitable for the open position in department X then he can be hired for that open position, by taking approvals from concerned reporting and managing authorities and conducting all the required selection procedures.
b. Next Level Hiring:
If there is an opening in executive level and if a Jr level employee (Trainee) has good skills then he can be trained further to make him capable to handle the roles of executive position and he can be hired for the same.
2. External Recruitments
External Recruitment is the process where an open position is filled with a person who is not in relation with organization earlier.
External Recruitments can be further done in 4 ways
a. Through Consultancies:
Recruitments need not be done the companies always but can be assigned to consultancies, where consultancies will put all efforts to close the open positions. This can reduce the operational time of internal HR and also cost incurred in some cases.
b. Through Campus Hiring:
Campus Hiring is the process where companies go to colleges to hire the candidates right from their colleges. Here freshers are hired for entry level positions.
c. Through References:
When there is an open position, the employees working with the organization can refer people with suitable skills from their circle. Thus few openings can be closed by references. This can be easily done through good talent branding.
d. Through Advertising:
Companies will attract job applications for an open position by advertising the job requirement through different media
● Print Media:
This type of advertisements can be done in public places by distributing pamphlets near shopping malls, movie theaters, public transports or any crowdy places. Also giving news paper advertisements.
● Social Media:
